Search for Filipina in Google and the first thing you’ll see are… scantily-clad women and mail-order brides (it isn’t as bad on Yahoo and MSN, to their credit). At least Basang Panaginip comes in 3rd with his treatise on The Sexiest Filipina Bloggers, which is less about the body and more about the brain.
While I’m like any other guy who considers girls in bikinis eye candy, it’s damn irritating to see the fairer side of my country being generalized like that. I mean, we can’t help it if Filipinas are so good-looking, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look beyond their natural beauty, right? Admit it, Kristine is good-looking, but Happy Slip is all about her personality.
So, I’m taking up Noemi’s call to influence the online meaning of the Filipina. I’ll continue Marc’s Filipina and Philippines SEO campaign, which has been successful with the latter term but not the former. And of course, I’ll be writing and link loving with terms like Filipina, Filipinas, and even Sexy Filipinas.
What about you?

[…] It’s about time that the online sexy Filipina image is, not changed, but taken back. I have seen two blog posts already, that of Sir Martin Perez of Philippine Science High School, and Rico’s of Bayanihan Blog Network’s What Filipina Should Mean Online. […]
now that i bounce back, it is heartwarming to note the positive things that come out of negative situations such as the threats to me for using the pesudonym Sexy Mom–now we are all rallying behind the campaigns for Reshaping the Online and Sexy Image of the Filipina.
Now this is something worth blogging about. I’ll make my own post. Will just have to meditate first. Haha.
Jeric and Prudence: The more we write about the Filipina in a positive light, Google will have no choice but to place more positive sites on the search rankings! So write write write!
Dexie: Don’t thank me Dexie, thank Dine Racoma and Noemi.
SexyMom: It’s been my pleasure Dine!
It’s good to see the campaign gaining momentum!
