For this week in the Philippine Blogosphere, I’d like to highlight the success of Noemi’s call to reshape the meaning of Filipina online. It’s been so successful that Google results related to Noemi’s entry are now in the top five, threatening results that are only about sex.
There’s still a lot of work to be done though. Filipina is still monopolized by the dirt peddlers. But first, let’s give link love where it’s due, and take the list of people who’ve supported the campaign (courtesy of Noemi’s original post):
- What Filipina Should Mean Online by Rico (yes a male blogger) [Hey, that's us!]

Like I said, there’s still a lot of work to be done; the dirty sites are still on top because of their SEO. Maybe someone should sponsor an SEO contest to push respectable sites up for the term “Filipina”?

I was also thinking of having an SEO contest for this. Maybe you can ask Marc Macalua. He can think of the mechanics .
Oh and thanks for being a part of this campaign. Oh and I love the photos of the bloggers. I was looking all over for it. I didn’t see it right away.
Thanks for the link. It’s the least we can do to uphold the positive image of the Filipina.
now, sites showing the clean image of the Filipina are slowly taking their place in google’s first page, replacing the unwholesome sites.
Noemi: My pleasure Noemi, think of it as little online reputation management for the Philippines.
Jane: I’m sure Noemi also appreciates your efforts too. As I do.
SexyMom: Maybe you can take up Noemi’s suggestion? I wonder if Gabriela would be a willing sponsor…
